Established in 1848 Oakwood Cemetery is a designated Historical Site in the State of Michigan. The Oakwood Cemetery Superintendent has established rules and regulations in which the City Commission has adopted ordinances which will afford maximum protection to the burial rights holders and create and preserve the cemetery’s beauty. Oakwood Cemetery is an outstanding Victorian Era cemetery, with its park like setting, wooded pathways and variety of monuments. Local citizens, including Adrian founder Addison Comstock, created Oakwood Cemetery in 1848. Originally 22 acres, by 1968 the cemetery had grown to 120 acres.
