From the intersection of US Hwy. 171 and LA Hwy. 8 North of Leesville, go 1.7 miles on US Hwy. 171. Turn right onto East Hawthorne Rd. and continue for almost 1.0 miles to the Old Anacoco Missionary Baptist Church. The large, fenced cemetery is located to the left of the Church with the two older family sections separately fenced at the rear. The oldest marked burial in the cemetery appears to be for Andrew J. Smart who died in 1865. This burial can be found in the Smart Family section at the rear. Also in the Smart Family section is Sen. John R. Smart, who named Leesville. His son Dr. Edmond Smart founded and donated the land for Leesville.(Dr. Smart is buried at Smarts Chapel Cemetery). Some of the older markers are broken and unreadable.
