Først på året januar 1432 strandet en livbåt på ei lita øy Sandøya ved Røst. Røst er i Lofoten, Norge. Det var Pietro Querini og noen av hans mannskap fra deres skip som hadde gått ned vest av Irland. De ble oppdaget av folk som bodde på Røst og ble reddet av dem og innkvartert i deres hus på Røst.
