MAKARSKA DIOCESE is one of the oldest dioceses in Croatia. While, for example, the Zagreb diocese was founded 1094, Hvar 1147, Sibenik 1298, and Banja Luka and Mostar 1881., Makarska diocese was created before the arrival of the Croats on the Adriatic.
