The Bolitho Surname (prounced bəlaɪθoʊ) is of Cornish origins. Bolitho is both a small village in Western Cornwall close to Crowan as well as a place in the civil parish of Menheniot.
The first part of the name comes from "bos" or "bod" meaning dwelling place in Old Cornish. The second part is considered to be derived from an unknown personal name.
First originating in Cornwall it has spread throughout the world. My own Bolitho Ancestors migrated to New Zealand, Australia and onto North America.
