Our family is related to Mecislovas Reinys who was an Archbishop of Vilnius in the early 1900's in Lithuania. The Soviets captured him and his family and took them to Siberia during the mass deportations of June 1941. We are part of the surviving family members that were not murdered by the Soviets. Our family escaped Lithuania in June of 1941 for Germany and lived in a British Displaced persons camp for 8 years prior to being sponsored by a distant relative of my fathers, the Spudis and Akelis famlies in New York City, USA. This is how our branch of the famly ended up in the US. I also know that we are somehow related to the Reinys branch of the family in the UK.
