Ryons in 1800s in Tennessee were referred to in documents as Rian or Rians in the what is present day Jefferson Co. Which was part of the Lost State of Franklin. A state that existed for about 4 years and records have been found in several states. Most Rians moved to Morgan Co. Tennessee from Jefferson Co. And the name Ryon was used from then to the present. It seems that Virginia might have be the next step upward.
