I'm locking down Chucky & his immediate family descendants as a temporary precaution in case merge-ins on historical profiles get hectic while the Geni and the My Heritage families start to cross pollinate.
The long-term benefits of resource and people access of this joining of the two companies is FANTASTIC, so the locking down is just an attempt to set a fixed reference point over the transition period.

The Charlemagne family template is here: http://www.geni.com/projects/Charlemagne-Emperor-of-the-West
I've logged a record of the locked profiles on this project: http://www.geni.com/projects/Locked-profiles/109

If anybody needs to do work on these while they're locked, just drop me a note to unlock them for you. The idea is not to exclude people; just to protect the data.

From the blog "The two websites will remain separate. Over time (it may take a few years), we may build a bridge between them to allow users who wish to have a tree on both MyHeritage and Geni to enjoy the best of both worlds, and have changes made in their tree on one site reflected automatically in the other."

Donovan: One of the key technical and policy issues to work out is how a "private tree on MyHeritage" which contains a copy of Charlemagne's family/profile might -- or might not! -- affect the corresponding profiles on Geni.

It is one thing to have 'single-managed' profiles updated across the two environments; it is FAR more complicated to think through and manage how multi-managed (i.e.: "shared") profiles might be synchronized between the two environments.

Private User, I'm opting for caution, just because there was months of work in that template. Some of the curators have felt they should have been locked all along, but it always seems too heavy handed to me. If it turns out I was over-cautious nothing is lost except my face :-)

I believe synchronization across platforms is years in the future. The more immediate cross pollination is "record matching" across platforms.

I won't like to see any locked profiles and would love it if anybody would please tell me if some of mine are locked. Remember I have been working for years he as does Donovan Penaluna even longer as he invited me.
But as all know it is just my opinion as all is in English and I don't feel eaasy answering on English discussions. That is PRECAUTION only.
Love you all.

Haha Judi, I think you were the first person I invited... Has anyone heard when we will be seeing some of the "Myheritage benefits"

Judith Susanna Hendrika Meyer, I did finally manage to get the time to go back to all these profiles, and Field Locked them instead of overall Locking. (All except the couple that produce daily mismerges - like Charlemagne himself).

@Donovan, from the Curator side, MH has asked us all to sign a Non-Disclosure agreement before giving us the big vision of where they see Geni going. We are now waiting for all Curators to have signed.

HI Don, you are correct. I am sure it was me and At. And now all the family are there. At late my brothers wife also joined.
Remember there were only about 200 profiles.
Sharon thanks for the above. You know how frustrated I get when I have to do merge over and over again.
I have a busy week ahead of me, but will have a look every now and then. For anything urgent rather e-mail me. I will keep the mail on for the week.
But Minishca's boyfriend's dad (42) passed away on Friday night. Heart attack, so we will have a funeral and then Minishca get prizes(pryse) at Carletonville for top 10 in subjects and her 8 diastintion. I have been invited, although they are still busy with the -ontgroening - initiation? at the Varsity but we hope she will be able to attend.
Tata niggies en nefies.

Judith Susanna Hendrika Meyer - the locking was of Charlemagne's direct kids only - not the SA tree.

Als reg Sharon. Geen probleme ek sal sê as ek my vasloop, jy weet mos.

Ja, ek weet :-)
