Alexander Stewart Boyack

Alex Boyack was born on the 29th August 1877 near Broughty Ferry, Forfar, Scotland. His father, John born 9th July 1848 at Dundee was a Grocer and Wine Merchant and married Hannah Simpson on 19 July 1876. At the time of the 1881 (3 years old) census they lived at Gladstone Place, No 3, Brook Street, Monifieth, Forfar, Scotland.

In the 1891 census he is 13 years old and living at Caledonia Road and is an apprentice clerk.

On the 16th of August 1902 (25yrs old) he travelled on the Union Castle Lines sailing from Ston to take up a position as clerk with the Bourke Trust Estate Company Limited, Pretoria. Before leaving Glasgow he lived at 8 Westmorland Street, Crosshill, Glasgow (1901 census 23 years old - listed as a paper traveller)

On the 29th September 1937 the Department of Interior in Pretoria issued him a 10 year passport allowing him to travel to Netherlands, East Indies and Portugese East Africa but not valid for Spain or the Spanish zone of Morocco.

He met Gertrude Mabel Murray in Pretoria, South Africa and they married on the 24th March 1911 at the Pretorius Street Presbyterian Church, they were married by Rev E MacMillan. He was 13 years older than his wife. They lived at 913 Pretorius Street, Arcadia Pretoria.

He passed away at the Arcadia Nursing Home, Pretoria on the 12th May 1961 at the age of 83
