7. Åmund Hallvardsson b. 1834 on Skjold (6b), d. 1902 on Skjold. Married 1857 to Synneva Oddsdotter b. 1837 in Øyno (18a), d. 1904 at Skjold. Åmund was just a young boy when he got the farm for 800 spd. in the inheritance settlement in 1853. The entire amount of payment was debt that Åmund was to pay out. For the first five years he ran the farm with his mother. A few months after she died, he found a wife for himself in Øyno. Åmund must have been something out of the ordinary. He started by setting up contracts for his cottagers/crofters, the most intricate ones found in the whole town. His jurisprudence was paired with an unruly temper, "he was as angry as fire", it is said. Neighbors whom he could not discipline with paragraphs, he fought with. After one such fight , Erik Tveito walked around with half of Åmund's beard in his pocket, and showed it to whoever wanted to see it. In 1869 it was Åmund's turn to get sued by the other landowners in the mountains: he was accused of letting way too many horses and cattle loose in the pasture. In 1884-85 he got into an argument with his neighbor Tor Hallaland over the use of two roads to the outlying field that went over the territory of Hallaland. The conciliation commission had to take proper care of the situation and made rules and arrangements that solved the problems - but it solved it only for a moment. in 1897 a new quarrel arose between the neighbors, see below (27). Åmund decided already in 1881 that his farm should be divided between his sons. The division took place in 1892, and Hallvard immediately took over his half of the farm. Åmund probably continued to run Indre Skjold (farm nr. 3) until 1899. Åmund got himself a very favourable vilkårscontract with his sons, and as a vilkårsman he had plans to build a stove and an outhouse, but he died soon after.

3. Should the vilkårs people due to old age or other weaknesses not be able to cultivate and harvest these plots of land themselves, I commit to, if they wish, at no cost for the vilkårs people to provide this at a responsible manner for them.
4. When the vilkårs people no longer wish to make use of these plots of land, I, as well as coming owners of the farm, commit to compensating them with a payment of a corresponding amount like my brother Halvor Amundsen, who owns the other half of the farm, provides, namely farm no. 1. Of course with the difference that the use of land and forest is taken out on my property, which corresponds to the value of the same kind intended to be payed by his property.
5. A free house plot for the barn which the vilkårs people have built on the farm settlement. As well as the liberty to build a residential house on the west side of the main building as well as a piece of land around the same, which today is marked and limited. In the event that the vilkårs people build a seperate residential house at the designated place, their rights in the plot of land designed under item 2 are no longer valid. But they still retain the piece of land here. Road right and access to these houses are reserved for them. The value of the terms described here, calculated for 5 years, will not excede 500 norwegian kroner, which has been taken into account in the choice of stamped paper.- Skjold on the 12 Oct 1899
