Elsie Johanna Stenke, the daughter of Rudolph and Minnie (Pinno) Stenke was born November 10, 1907, in Kimball Township, Jackson County, Minnesota. Elsie was baptized on December 15, 1907, and she was confirmed at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Kimball Township. She received her education at a country school near her home and the Mountain Lake High School.
On January 30, 1926, Elsie was united in marriage to Friedrich Wilhelm Oeltjenbruns at her parents home in Mountain Lake, Minnesota. The couple made their home and farmed together northwest of Mountain Lake. They retired and moved in to Mountain Lake in 1952. In September of 1992, they moved to the Hillside Manor in Windom, Minnesota. Elsie enjoyed gardening, crossword puzzles, playing cards, and making quilts and crocheting. Elsie entered the Sogge Good Samaritan Center in Windom on July 11, 1996 and this is where she died on Monday, September 2, 1996, at the age of eighty-eight years, nine months and twenty-two days.
Mrs. Oeltjenbruns is survived by her husband, Fred, of Windom, Minnesota; three children, Caroline Johnson and her husband, Lawrence, of Windom, Minnesota, Raymond Oeltjenbruns and his wife, Verna, of Mountain Lake, Minnesota, and Gladys Dick and her husband, Harvey, of Huron, South Dakota; nine grandchildren; nineteen great grandchildren; two step great grandchildren; two great great grandsons; one sister, Irma Elsing of Windom, Minnesota; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters, Julia Hilken, Louise “Lizzy” Goldencrown, and Dorothy Forstrom; and five brothers, Martin, Rudy, Louis, Walter, and Fred “Fritz”.* Reference: Find A Grave Memorial - SmartCopy: Nov 22 2023, 3:07:35 UTC
