Ephraim Lyon was born in 1779 in Mendham, Morris County, New Jersey, British Colonial America. His parents were Capt. Abraham Lyon and Phoebe Lyon.

Ephraim married Eunice Lyon 1808 Morris, Morris, New Jersey, United States. Together they had the following children:

• Simeon Lyon;
• Phoebe Lyon;
• Byron Lyon;
• Abram Lyon;
• Ruth Lyon;
• Mary Ann Lyon;
• Irena Lyon;
• Naomi Lyon.

He died on April 8, 1846 in Knox County, Ohio, United States and was buried after April 8, 1846 in Salem Methodist Episcopal Cemetery, Fredericktown, Knox County, Ohio, USA.
