Henry Sleeper Harper was a passenger on the RMS Titanic when it sank on April 15, 1912. Mr Henry Sleeper Harper was born in New York City on 11 March 1864, the son of Joseph Wesley Harper and Abigail P. Sleeper. His grandfather, Joseph Wesley Harper, founded a publishing firm in the 1810s. After Henry graduated from Columbia University in 1888, he worked for the family firm of Harper and Brothers.

He was a director of the Harper & Brothers Publishing House.
