Hilda (Chipman) Byers, 92, of Bloomfield, passed away at 11:20 a.m. Tuesday, November 19, 2011 at IU Health Bloomington Hospital.

Born July 9, 1919 in Greene County, she was the daughter of Wesley and Nell (Ockerman) Chipman.

She was a homemaker and a member of the Mineral United Methodist Church and the Mineral Ladies Aid.

Surviving relatives include one daughter Janet S. Byers of Bloomfield; two sons, Morris Byers (Charman) and Larry Byers (Eldeania) both of Bloomfield; four grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and 10 step-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband Walter Byers on October 26, 2011; three brothers, Jack Chipman, Frank Chipman and Glen Chipman; and one sister Claireva Smith.

Funeral services will be conducted 10:00 a.m. Saturday, December 3, 2011 at Jenkins & Sons Funeral Home in Bloomfield with Rev. Steve Eads officiating. Interment will follow in Walnut Grove cemetery in rural Bloomfield.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday and one hour prior to services Saturday at the funeral home.

The family asks that all memorial contributions be made to the Mineral United Methodist Church or the Mineral Ladies Aid.
