About Jennet Tipton

Jennet was pregnant with Agnes at the time of Joshua's death. In the fall of 1807 or early 1808, Jennet and her family migrated to Indiana and settled at Brinley's Ferry, now Evans Landing on the Ohio River in Harrison County. She later moved to what is now Jackson County and lived at her brother Robert's Shields Fort, the present location of Seymour, Indiana. Jennet is buried at Seymour, Indiana. Jennet and her brother Jesse received "Letters of Dismission" from the Pigeon Forge Baptist Church 30 September 1808, probably about the time they moved to Harrison County, Indiana.



Jennet Shields (7 Mar 1762-Feb 1827) m16 Aug 1785 Joshua Tipton (1750-18 Apr 1793) moved to Harrison Co, Indiana, in 1808, later moving to Seymour, Indiana.

Wife of Joshua Tipton. Somewhere along the waters of the East Fork of the Little Pigeon where he was killed by the Indians or near the site of Shield's Fort where he lived, is the unmarked grave of Joshua Tipton, Revolutionary War Solider.
