Johanna "Kotie" Visser (1951 - 2011)

Brief overview:

Kotie (60), a popular distribution contractor for the Beeld newspaper, died on 25th January in a hospital in the city six weeks after robbers shot at her truck and hit her in the chest.

The condition of Kotie from Port Shepstone deteriorated a week after she was shot and was placed in the ICU unit of the St. Augustine Hospital .

A bullet hit her chest under her armpit, a lung damaged and in one of her back vertebrae fractured when robbers attacked on December 14 in the early hours of the morning on the N2 highway nearby Ilfracombe.

She was on her way to pick up newspapers at the Pavilion shopping centre in Durban. A wounded Visser called her son, Schalk, on her cell phone called while the robbers searched the truck..

Visser Jr., who also helps distribute Beeld, was inside ten minutes at the scene. The robbers stole only Mrs. Visser's handbag.

According to Visser jr. his mother developed heart and blood pressure problems the day before yesterday around 05:00 and she passed away at 1:10 p.m.

According to his sister, Ilze Viljoen from Roodepoort, Mrs. Visser was someone who always laughed, talked with people and never sat still.
