Joseph was born in 1664. He was the son of Joseph Bassett and Mary Lapham. He passed away in 1736.

The will of Joseph Bassett of Bridgewater, husbandman, was dated 12 Jan 1735/6 and proved 7 Feb 1736/7. The will names his oldest daughter Bethia Bassett; 2nd daughter Mehetebell Holloway of Middleboro; 34d daughter Lydia Phillips of Norton. Bethia was named executor. The inventory says he died 8 Nov 1736.[1]

Bethiah Eaton was born about 1668, daughter of Samuel and Martha (Billington) Eaton. She died before 12 Jan 1735/6 (husband's will).[1]

She married 5 Nov 1691 in Taunton, Massachusetts, Joseph Bassett,[2] s/o Joseph and Mary (Lapham) Bassett.[3][4][1]

Joseph Bassett’s will names the three daughters:

1. oldest, Bethia Bassett (named executor); married William Coddington
2. 2nd Mehetebell Holloway of Middleboro; married Nathaniel Holloway
3. 3rd Lydia Phillips of Norton; married Samuel Phillips
