Biography

Joseph Holmes was born 3 jun 1665.[1] He was the son of Rev. John Holmes and Mary Wood who later married Governor William Bradford's son as his third wife .

Joseph married Sarah Sprague. (records say Kingston, RI but it probably was Kingston, Mass).

His second wife was Mary Brewster, granddaughter of Mayflower passenger Love Brewster and great granddaughter of Elder William Brewster.

Died in Kingston June 26, 1733 age 68 y 23 days)

The Giles Memorial, p. 188, (Ancestry.com) credits only 1, John, of his 11 children to his 1st wife, Sarah. The remainder, beginning with Joseph, b. Oct. 4, 1696, are by 2d wife, Mary Brewster.
