An interesting story about daughter, Sarah Ann , in a Hawkhurst history. She was known as Annie and became a recluse. She would collect her provisions late at night from the shopkeepers who would leave them on their back doorsteps. [Information from Dadswell Researcher Barbara Nethercott, by email Nov 2013]

Marriage date from original marriage certificate in my possession. On his son, John's, marriage certificate, in 1884 his father's occupation is recorded as having been a mechanic [Sharon 2013]
