About Nettie Lavina May Shull
Mrs. Nettie Lavina May Knott Shull, 71, wife of Harvey M. Shull and a well known and beloved resident of Mt. Solon, died at her home Monday morning, May 23,1955. Mrs. Shull who had not complained of feeling ill and was doing her household work Friday morning when she suffered a stroke. Her condition grew gradually weaker. A daughter of the late Cornelius and Lydia Stoutamyer Knott, she was born on March 12, 1884 at Mt. Solon, where she spent her entire life. On April 15, 1906 she was united in marriage to Harvey Marshall Shull. Mrs. Shull was a devoted wife and mother and a good neighbor and friend. She possessed a kind and pleasant Christian personality and was loved and respected by all who knew her. As a young girl she united with the Mt. Zion EUB Church and in more recent years attended churches throughout the community. Surviving is her husband, Harvey M. Shull, and one daughter, Mrs. Clara Dovel, of Mt. Solon; one sister, Mrs. Maggie Heatwole, of Spring Creek and two brothers, Robert E. Knott and Grover Cleveland Knott, of Mt. Solon. Funeral services will be held Wednesday afternoon at 3:00 from the Mt. Olivet Church, near Mt. Solon, with the Rev. C. W. Tinsman officiating, assisted by the Rev. Carl V. Hinkel. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be Carney Tumer, Thomas Knott, Lewis Tumer, Otho Knott, Jansen Tumer, and John Henry Knott. Honorary attendants will be: R. Halterman, Wilmer Senger, N. A. Michael, Charles Clinedinst, Emory Michael, Joseph Kinkead, Roscoe Michael, John Senger, Baker Armstrong and P. M. Michael. The body now rests at the W. L. Rosenberger Funeral Home in Bridgewater where it will remain until one-thirty Wednesday afternoon when it will be taken to the church to lie in state until the hour of the services. The relatives will meet at Mrs. Shull’s late home Wednesday afternoon at two-thirty for a short service prior to leaving for the church. Pallbearers and honorary attendants are asked to meet at the church Wednesday afternoon at 2:45.
