About Peter Parker
Peter Parker of Portsmouth, R.I. (son of George Parker from Margate, Kent, ENG.) and his brother Joseph were original patentees in Shrewsbury after the Dutch left. Most of Shrewsbury's earliest English settlers were Quakers. Later in life, Peter returned to Rhode Island and his will was probated in Westerly, R.I. There is an attempt to preserve Peter Parker's homestead in Shrewsbury, N.J. It was built in 1667 and has doubtless had numerous additions. It was named "Silver Creek" after Peter's parents' home in Portsmouth, R.I.
