PLEASE NOTE: William FOSS of Greenland, NH, b. Rye, NH, c1674, d. before 12 Dec 1718, was an entirely different person from William FOST of Dover, NH, b. Dover, 11 March 1673/74, living 1764. See "Genealogical Dictionary of Maine and New Hampshire" [Noyes, Libby, Davis], pp. 241-242.
William FOSS of Greenland, NH, b. c1674, was married twice in Hampton Falls, 29 Nov 1700, to Sarah Buswell, b. 29 Nov. 1676. They had five children: Walter, Benjamin, Sarah, and John. William FOSS was deceased by 12 Dec 1718 when his young son Walter was hauled into court. Marriage 1: 1691 to Margery Lord in Dover, Strafford, New Hampshire, USA. His burial spot is unknown.
In contrast, William FOST of Dover, b. 11 March 1673/74, was married three times -- 1st, abt 1692 to Margery Lord; 2nd, 26 Apr 1703, to Mrs. Sarah (Ferniside) Heard; and 3rd, to Mrs. Mary (Horn) Hanson. William FOST was still alive in 1764, a 90-year old man. By his first wife, William FOST had six children: William, Humphrey, Mary, Sarah, Benjamin, and Margery. By his second wife, two more children: Lydia and John. Finally, by his third wife, he fathered four more: Mary, Chadbourne, Daniel, and Lydia.
