Celebrating International Day of the World’s Indigenous People

Posted August 9, 2013 by Amanda | One Comment

August 9 is the United Nations’ International Day of the World’s Indigenous People! First pronounced by the General Assembly of the United Nations in 1994, the day is observed to promote and protect the rights of the world’s indigenous population. Each year this day is celebrated in recognition of the achievements and contributions that indigenous people make to improve world issues.

In honor of the day, here are some of genealogy projects on Geni from all around the world devoted to the preservation of the world’s indigenous population and shared family heritage.
