Family Stories from the Raj

Map of Southern Asia

From 1858 to 1947, the British ruled over southern Asia. During this time period, many British women went to India to find their future husbands. A woman by the name of Anne de Courcy is currently in the process of writing a book about these young women from this fascinating period of time.

Anne is on the look out for well-substantiated stories, letters, or journals from any women who went to India during the Raj, and ended up getting married there. If you have any relatives or friends that have information on this subject, don’t hesitate to contact Anne. You shouldn’t wait, though. The book is on pace to be published next spring, so contact Anne as soon as possible with your history.

If you end up sharing your family information with Anne, we’d love to hear about it. The Geni community is so wonderful, and the sharing of family stories is a big part of that.
