Julia Louis-Dreyfus is an American actress, comedienne and producer. She is well known for her roles in Seinfeld, The New Adventures of Old Christine, and  Veep. In the early 1980’s she was one of the regular cast members of Saturday Night Live. Louis-Dreyfus is one of the most nominated actresses in Emmy Award history with a total of 14 nominations. She has won three Emmy Awards, a Golden Globe Award and five Screen Actors Guild Awards. She received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame for her contribution to the broadcast television industry in May 2010.

Julia Scarlett Elizabeth Louis-Dreyfus was born on January 13, 1961 in Manhattan, New York to Judith, a writer and special needs tutor, and billionaire Gerard Louis-Dreyfus . Gerard C. Louis-Dreyfus adopted the name William as a symbol of his integration into American society and is known as William Louis-Dreyfus.  He is a French-born American businessman and is the chairman of Louis Dreyfus Energy Services. He was chairman of the Poetry Society of America from 1998-2008 and has had poems published in publications.

Louis-Dreyfus’ great-great grandfather Leopold Louis-Dreyfus founded the Louis Dreyfus Group in 1851, a commodities and shipping multinational. Her grandfather Guy Pierre Louis-Dreyfus headed the Louis Dreyfus Group and fought in the French Resistance during World War II. Her second cousin once removed was Robert Louis-Dreyfus (1946-2009), he was a businessman who had major success as CEO of Adidas-Salomon and Saatchi & Saatchi. He also was a majority shareholder of the French football team Olympique de Marseille. The enterprises were inherited and supervised by Robert’s wife Russian-born Margarita Bogdanova, she is considered to be the richest Russian woman.

Julia Louis-Dreyfus is married to American writer and actor Brad Hall, they met while both were attending Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois. He performed on Saturday Night Live from 1982-1984, he was the creator of the TV series The Single Guy and Watching Ellie.
