Featured Project: Authors of Great Literature

Today we feature the Authors of Great Literature project. From the times of ancient Greece to the 20th century, the works of these authors have withstood the test of time and continue to be read by new generations today. Is your favorite author included? Here’s a look at a few of the 127 profiles already included in this project:

William Shakespeare – He was a poet and playwright. Shakespeare is widely regarded as one of the greatest writers in the English language. Today, his works are still highly popular and enjoyed throughout the world.

Jane Austen – She was an English novelist whose works of romantic fiction set among the gentry earned her a place as one of the most widely read writers in English literature. A few of her most well known novels include Sense and SenibilityPride and Prejudice and Emma.

Charles Dickens – Dickens was the most popular English novelists of the Victorian Era and is today one of the most read authors in the world.

Mark Twain – He was an American author. Twain is best known for his novels The Adventures of Tom Sawyer and Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, which is considered one of the Great American Novels.

J.R.R. Tolkien – He was an English writer and best known for his highly popular fantasy novels The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings.
