Featured Project: U.S. Westward Expansion/Wild West

Designed to capture contributors and participants in America’s expansion westward, this project features the likes of many popular folks. Here is just a preview of those included:


Jesse James – He was an American outlaw, gang leader, bank robber, train robber, and murderer from the state of Missouri and the most famous member of the James-Younger Gang.

Belle Starr – She was another famous American female outlaw.

Bill Doolin – He was an American bandit and founder of the Wild Bunch, an outlaw gang that specialized in robbing banks, trains and stagecoaches in Arkansas, Oklahoma, and Kansas during the 1890s. 


Annie Oakley – She was an American sharpshooter who later landed a role in Buffalo Bill’s Wild West show, making her the first American female superstar.

Wild Bill – He was a frontiersman who also served as a representative to the Utah Territorial Legislature.

Wyatt Earp – He is best known for his gunfight at the OK Corral with Doc Holliday.

Davy Crockett -He was later called “King of the Wild Frontier.” He represented Tennessee in the U.S. House of Representatives, served in the Texas Revolution, and died at the Battle of the Alamo.

Daniel Boone – He is most famous for his exploration and settlement of what is now Kentucky.

Grat Dalton -He was an outlaw of the Old West, and leader of the Dalton Gang.
