Jamboree 2013 Recap

This weekend we had the pleasure of attending the 44th Annual Southern California Genealogy Jamboree in Burbank, California. It was a blast meeting Geni users and seeing familiar faces, old friends and first timers. This year we had a much larger space as part of the MyHeritage family with a lovely day-in-the-park theme and green “grass” to complete the look.

We even had new Geni banners to show off!

Below is a picture of Mark Olsen, Business Development Manager, MyHeritage USA and World Vital Records, demonstrating MyHeritage’s amazing Record Matching and Smart Matching technology to a very interested attendee. You can catch a glimpse of Charles working on his Geni tree in the back.

Since Jamboree is held so close to the Geni office, we had a little extra help from Geni team members who usually don’t have the opportunity to experience the fun of a genealogy conference.

Here’s Alex helping a budding genealogist get started on his Geni tree.

This year’s event had over 1,100 attendees – a little smaller than previous years, likely due to the success of NGS conference last month in nearby Las Vegas. Despite the lower numbers, the halls were still packed with people eager to win door prizes.

Special thanks to Dick Eastman, Randy Seaver and all the geneabloggers who stopped by the booth to say hi. Here’s a photo of Thomas MacEntee chatting with MyHeritage’s Chief Genealogist Daniel Horowitz and Mark.

This year’s Jamboree was great and we can’t wait to see what’s in store for next year!

We’ll have more pictures posted on our Facebook page later this week. Did you attend this year’s  genealogy Jamboree?
