Monday Recap for the Week of Nov. 22-Dec. 6, 2010
Another fun week in the world of Genealogy. I never thought I’d mention Christopher Columbus and Martha Stewart in the same recap!
The Genealogy Sphere
- Use holiday get-togethers to fill out family tree (The Arizona Republic) – As this will be my first holiday season home as a genealogist, I’m planning on spending some time with my extended family to work on my tree 🙂
- Genealogy: Save, save, save; copy, copy, copy (Coshocton Tribune) – This advice can’t be reiterated enough!
- Learning terminology will help track ancestors’ land claims (Asheville Citizen Times) – A good explanation of some terminology used to describe land ownership in different eras.
- Technologists and genealogists coming to Utah (Mormon Times) – As technology and genealogy continue to overlap, expect to see more conferences like this one.
- What to expect this coming year (Green Valley News and Sun) – Half recap of current genealogy affairs, half predictions for next year. Also, apparently Martha Stewart is on the genealogy bandwagon.
- The Origins of…O.K. (MyHeritage) – Apparently, OK is the old LOL. Fun, interesting read.
- Columbus Was Son of Polish King (AOL News) – Portuguese historian Manuel Rosa spent more than 20 years researching Christopher Columbus, and his conclusion is quite unexpected.
- Interview – Matt Johnson of tpstry (Geneabloggers) – Interview with the founder of tpstry, a new genealogy collaboration site. Worth checking out.
