New Year’s Twins Born in Different Years

Posted January 4, 2016 by Amanda | No Comment

Do you have twins in your family tree? It’s not often you will find a pair of twins with different birthdays. However, for one San Diego couple, that’s just what they got. Not only were their twins born on different days, but they were not even born in the same year!

Parents Maribel and Luis Salgado ended 2015 and started 2016 with a bang. They welcomed daughter Jaelyn at 11:59pm on December 31, 2015, the last baby to be born at San Diego Kaiser Permanente Zion Medical Center. Three minutes later, twin brother Luis arrived at 12:02am on January 1, 2016, becoming the first baby to be born in 2016 at the hospital.

The twins were originally due at the end of January, but arrived a month early. Jaelyn weighed 4 pounds, 15 ounces and Luis weighed 5 pounds, 9 ounces. The couple also have a three-year-old daughter, Isabella.

Now the twins will get to have birthday celebrations back-to-back!

Do you think this will confuse future genealogists? What do you think of this unique birth story?
