Today marks Brad Pitt’s 52nd birthday!

William Bradley Pitt was born on December 18, 1963 in Shawnee, Oklahoma to Jane Etta Hillhouse and William Alvin Pitt. He grew up in Springfield, Missouri and majored in journalism at the University of Missouri. However, just weeks before graduating, Pitt packed up all of his belongings and moved to Los Angeles to pursue a career in acting.

He worked odd jobs around the city as he struggled to get his career off the ground. Pitt gained some work with small supporting roles on television, but it wasn’t until after making a brief appearance in Thelma and Louise that he became internationally recognized. He has since starred in a wide variety of films, including Seven, Fight Club, and Mr. & Mrs. Smith, where he met his wife, Angelina Jolie. He recently starred opposite his wife once again on her third directorial effort, By the Sea.

Today, Brad Pitt remains one of Hollywood’s most recognizable stars and is actively involved in many humanitarian efforts around the world.
