Douglas Fairbanks
On May 23, 1883 silent film actor Douglas Fairbanks was born. Fairbanks gained fame as a swashbuckling hero in a series of films. He founded the film studio United Artist along with his wife, Mary Pickford, director D.W. Griffith and Charlie Chaplin. During the 1920’s, Fairbanks was known as the “King of Hollywood.”
