Happy birthday, Drew Barrymore! Today the actress turns 41.

Drew Blythe Barrymore was born into the famous Barrymore dynasty of actors. The granddaughter of legendary actor John Barrymore, Drew descends from a long line of performers. John Barrymore’s siblings, Lionel and Ethel, were also renowned stage actors. Not only that, her great grandparents, Maurice Barrymore and Georgiana Drew, were accomplished stage actors as well. Her second great grandparents, John and Louisa Lane Drew, owned and ran their own theater.

Coming from a family of such talent, it was no surprise that Drew would follow in the same footsteps. She landed her first acting job when she was just 11 months old and found fame quickly at the age of 6 when she was cast in Steven Spielberg’s classic film E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial. She became one of the most well-known child actors in history, but battled with substance abuse through much of her adolescence. Since overcoming her troubled past, Drew has become a successful film star and producer.
