Edward VII

On August 9, 1902, Edward VII was crowned the King of the United Kingdom and Ireland after the death of his mother Queen Victoria. Before his ascension to the throne, he served as heir apparent and held the title of Prince of Wales longer than any of his predecessors. He was recently surpassed by his great-great grandson Prince Charles as the longest-serving heir apparent in British history.
