Eleanor Roosevelt

On October 11, 1884, Eleanor Roosevelt was born in New York City, New York. During her husband’s presidency, Roosevelt changed the role of the first lady by becoming an active participant in American politics. She became an outspoken advocate of civil rights and continued her work with the UN for civil rights and women’s issues after Franklin Roosevelt‘s death.
