On this day 56 years ago, Elvis Presley performed “Hound Dog” on the Milton Berle Show. Although it may seem subdued by today’s standards, his gyrations on stage caused a storm of controversy. His scandalous performance became a defining moment of Presley’s career and helped catapult him to fame and become the King of Rock and Roll.
