She was born Ferrah Leni Fawcett on February 2, 1947 in Corpus Christi, Texas. She was the second daughter born to Pauline Alice Evans and James William Fawcett, an oil field contractor.

Fawcett first discovered her love for acting while in high school and in 1968, she decided to try her luck in Hollywood. She soon booked several commercials and guest spots on television. She got her big break when she was cast in the 1976 hit Charlie’s Angels. A breakout star, Fawcett immediately became a pop culture icon and her infamous poster in a red bathing suit cemented her status as one of the most popular celebrities of the era.

Although Fawcett left the hit show after its first season, Charlie’s Angels continues to remain one of her most memorable roles. She would go one to continue to find success in film and television and earn 4 Emmy nominations over the course of her career.

Fawcett died on June 25, 2009 at the age of 62 after losing her long battle with cancer.
