Profile of the Day: Geoffrey Chaucer

Happy Valentine’s Day! Today we highlight author and poet Geoffrey Chaucer. Chaucer’s poem, The Parlement of Foules, was the first recorded association of Valentine’s Day with romantic love. Written in honor of the first anniversary of King Richard II of England‘s engagement to Anne of Bohemia, the poem was the first to reference Valentine’s Day as a special day for lovers.
