Goldie Jeanne Hawn was born on November 21, 1945 in Washington, D.C. She was named after her maternal great aunt, Goldie Hochhauser. Starting at the age of three, Hawn took ballet and tap dance lessons. She began her career as a professional dancer before getting her big break on the popular variety show, Laugh-In.

Hawn easily segued into film and landed her first major film role in the 1969 movie, Cactus Flower. Hawn’s performance earned her an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress. After her win, Hawn’s popularity took off. She would earn another Oscar nomination, this time for Best Actress, for her performance in Private Benjamin. After taking a break from films in the early 2000s, Hawn will be returning to the big screen in the upcoming Amy Schumer comedy, Mother/Daughter.
