Goldie Hawn

Today we celebrate actress Goldie Hawn’s 73rd birthday!

Hawn was born on November 21, 1945 in Washington, D.C. to Laura Steinhoff, a dance school owner, and Edward Rutledge Haw, a musician. Raised in a Jewish household, Hawn was named after her mother’s aunt, Goldie.

After getting her start as a dancer, Hawn landed her first notable gig as a cast member on the sketch comedy show, Laugh-In. She soon appeared on the big screen in the film Cactus Flower, for which she would win an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress. After winning the award, Hawn’s career took off with a string of successful movies. In 1980, she starred in Private Benjamin and earned her second Academy Award nomination, this time for Best Actress. She has gone on to star in many more popular films, including OverboardDeath Becomes Her, and The First Wives Club.

For the last 35 years, Hawn has been in a relationship with long-time partner Kurt Russell. In 2017, they both received stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in a special double ceremony. And just last month, the couple became grandparents for the sixth time when Hawn’s daughter, Kate Hudson, gave birth to her daughter.
