John James Audubon

On April 26, 1785, John James Audubon was born. A French-American ornithologist, naturalist and painter, Audubon painted and cataloged the birds of North America. Audubon’s works and field notes significantly contributed to the understanding of bird anatomy and behavior. He discovered 25 new species and 12 new subspecies.
