Born in a log cabin outside of Pepin, Wisconsin, Wilder’s life in the Big Woods with her pioneer family formed the basis of her autobiographical series of “Little House” books. Her stories proved to be immensely popular with readers and inspired the hit television show, Little House on the Prairie, starring Melissa Gilbert as Laura. To date, the “Little House” books have been translated into dozens of languages and continue to be read by new generations of fans.
