Happy birthday to Liza Minnelli! Today the legendary icon turns 74.

The eldest daughter of legendary actress Judy Garland and director Vincente Minnelli, Liza was destined to become a star. She was born on March 12, 1946 in Los Angeles, California and made her film debut at the age of 3 in the musical In the Good Old Summertime, which starred her mother.

As a teen, Minnelli left school to pursue a career on stage. In 1965, she landed her first leading role on Broadway. The role would earn her a Tony award at the age of 19, making her one of the youngest performers to win the award. In 1972, she took on what would become one of her most famous roles in the big screen version of Cabaret. She won the Academy Award for Best Actress for her performance in the film.

A veteran performer, Minnelli has gone on to win many more awards, even becoming one of the rare few to have earned the coveted EGOT, an award in each of the top four major entertainment honors: an Emmy, Grammy, Oscar and a Tony.
