Nelson Mandela
On July 18, 1918 anti-apartheid activist Nelson Mandela was born. In 1993, Mandela was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for his role in ending the apartheid regime. He made history in 1994 by becoming the first president of South Africa to be elected in a fully democratic election. Check out his family tree on Geni!
