Profile of the Day: Steve Jobs

Steve Jobs

Today we remember innovator Steve Jobs, who died on this day five years ago.

Steve Jobs was born on February 24, 1955 in San Francisco, California to Joanne Schieble and Abdulfatah Jandali. His biological parents were two graduate students from the University of Wisconsin and decided to put him up for adoption. He was adopted by Paul and Clara Jobs, who encouraged his education and hobby of tinkering with electronics.

The co-founder of Apple, Jobs’ unique vision led the company to become one of the biggest and most profitable companies in the world. It’s hard to believe that the company began in 1976 in his parents’ garage in Los Altos, California. He co-founded the company along with his friend, Steve Wozniak. Jobs was ousted from the company in 1985 but returned years later as the company was floundering. Under his leadership, Jobs transformed the nearly bankrupt company. His gift for innovation led to the creation of new digital devices, such as the iPod, the iPhone and the iPad. Jobs revolutionized people’s relationship with technology and transformed the way individuals communicate with each other.
