Happy birthday, Steve Martin! Today the actor turns 75.

Martin was born on August 14, 1945 in Waco, Texas to Mary Lee Stewart and Glenn Vernon Martin. When he was young, his family moved to southern California. As a teen, he became a cheerleader in high school and got his first job at Disneyland selling guidebooks and performing magic tricks.

In 1977, Martin got his big break as a guest host on the late-night sketch comedy show, Saturday Night Live. He has since starred in several hit films including The JerkThe Three Amigos! and Cheaper by the Dozen.

Did you know that Martin is also a successful writer and musician? He has written novellas, novels and even a children’s book. A banjo player from a young age, Martin has also won a Grammy Award for Best Bluegrass Album.
