Posted August 2, 2013 by Amanda | No Comment

Today in 1876, frontiersman Wild Bill Hickcok was shot in the back and killed while playing poker at the Nuttal & Mann’s Saloon in Deadwood, located in the southern Dakota Territory. The legend of Wild Bill was known throughout the American West. During his lifetime, he was one of the first Pony Express riders, fought for the Union Army during the American Civil War, and became a lawman on the frontier. Considered one of the greatest gun-slingers of the Wild West, Wild Bill died never having seen his killer and with his gun in its holster.
