Wikitext Formatting in Discussions and Inbox Messages Now Available to Geni Pro Users
Today we are excited to announce that wikitext formatting in discussions and inbox messages is now available to Geni Pro subscribers. If you have a Geni Pro account, you can now customize the format of your discussion and inbox messages, and include hyperlinks and images!
This feature has been available to Geni curators for a while and we are happy to finally give access to this handy feature to all Geni Pro users.
Discussions
When composing a new discussion message, you will now see a wikitext toolbar to help format and customize your messages. Simply hover your mouse over each icon in the toolbar to learn more about what it does.

Or you can click on “formatting help” at the right to reveal a pop-up with more wikitext formatting information.

In the Edit tab, you will be able to write and customize the format of your message with the new wikitext tools.

After completing your message, you may click on the Preview tab to review your message before posting it.

Note that there are two ways to embed images into a message:
- If the image has already been uploaded to Geni or another image-hosting site, you can click the image button in the wikitext toolbar and paste the URL of the image;
- If you have the image in your device’s clipboard, simply paste it into the text window and it will automatically upload to Geni
Inbox Messages
Geni Pro users will now also see the wikitext toolbar when composing an inbox message. As with discussions, you may click on the “Preview” tab to review your message to make sure it is formatted correctly before sending it.

We hope our Geni Pro users find the new wikitext formatting for discussions and inbox messages helpful! Stay tuned for more new features coming soon on Geni.
