Ohio Valley iron manufacturing legend, land owner, helped establish businesses, etc. Most of his surrounding family were heavily involved in iron manufacturing. The town of Ironton, Ohio is only about a 20 minute drive from where I live. This is just a small part of his writeup in "A History of Adams Co., Ohio," :
Under the superintendence of himself and David Sinton, the experiments for introducing the hot blast were first made, and at their Union Furnace they put up the second hot blast in the United States, only a few years after its introduction in 1828. This was probably the greatest step forward that had yet been made in the manufacture of iron. Always favoring the advance in improvements, many changes were made by him in the form of furnaces and in the modes of operating them. Under his patronage, in 1860, at Ohio Furnace, was introduced the Davis hot blast, which greatly improved and modified the charcoal furnaces of the country. He was longer engaged and doubtless more extensively and directly concerned in the growth and prosperity of the iron business than any other man in the Ohio Valley.
Joseph Eddie Seay You need to work on Kenneth R. Seay
Corporal is not his name, that should be in his display name as Corporal Kenneth R. Seay. He has no birth name.
Dear Curators,
Here we have William Greene Roelker , a noted political figure from Rhode Island. In addition to his own exploits, one of his daughters married a count and a granddaughter married a grandson of Teddy Roosevelt.
Thanks,
Jessie German
Sorry! I should have also added his parents, Dr. Frederick Christian Roelker, M.D. and Catharine Ray Roelker to the above request, as they are also worthy of mastering.
Thanks,
Jessie German
Dear Curators,
Here we have a real-life "Indiana Jones" in noted anthropologist Frederick Roelker Wulsin , and three avant-garde, groundbreaking, adventurous wives: Janet Elliott Wulsin , Susanne Carey Wulsin , and Gwyneth Alexandra Stewart Wulsin , all accomplished in their own right.
Thanks,
Jessie German
Dear Curators,
We should also add Frederick's parents, Lucien Wulsin and Katharine Elizabeth Wulsin . Lucien, born into a southern plantation family, moves north and, along with his brothers, fights for the North in the Civil War. He marries into the Roelkers and saves the Baldwin Piano Company from almost certain liquidation.
Thanks,
Jessie German
Dear Curators,
Here are noted architect, Joseph Lyman Silsbee , and his wife, Anna Baldwin Silsbee . Joseph was a mentor of Frank Lloyd Wright, and designed many beautiful buildings himself.
Thanks,
Jessie German
