Just found out today! Any other people on here with similar lineage and have a direct tie with Rollo being a grandfather?

pretty much every european is descended from rollo. it is nothing unusual

Yes, According to Geni, he is also my 29th great grandfather !

I understand that Jason! :) I just thought it was neat that thanks to Geni I can track the path now. Arthur, we are very very distant relatives LOL :)

DEAR JILLIAN . E SHEPARD .

YES ROLLO . DE . NORMANDE WAS ALSO MY GRANDFATHER .

HIS PEOPLE GO BACK A LONG LONG WAY

It's very cool! I'm excited to have such connections.

Hi Jiliian! He is my 25th g-grandfather. Greetings from your 'cuzzin' in Pretoria! :-)

Piet- 20th Cousin 3 times removed :) Quite quite distant. :) Greetings!

Hi Jillian, he's my 31st Great Grandfather. You and I are 24th cousins, twice removed. It is interesting to be able to go that far back, regardless of how many others are descendants. I wouldn't say "it's no big deal" though. I guess it's just a matter of people's personal perspective and their agenda. I tend to ignore smug comments! Just have fun with Geni. It can be quite interesting and kind of addictive! :-)

Just watch carefully.... we're all descendants of Rollo (most likely), but many pedigrees leading to him will not withstand scrutiny if carefully examined.

That's what makes Geni fun - many connections, and many chances to test them!

You're right, Jillian, but it's still interesting and fun, as Scott and Harald have written. Scott, you are my 24th cousin once removed, and Harald you are my 24th cousin - we're one big family! :-)

correction - Scott is my 21st cousin once removed.

He's my 28th great grandfather and I'm enormously pleased and kind of amazed. Geni is quite amazing to be able to trace these connections. (This bit of knowledge has made watching The Vikings even more enjoyable!!)

Jillian, I see that we are indeed related, 14th cousin once removed ! Fairly distant, Lol !

Gange-Hrólfr 'Rollo' of Normandy is your 32nd great grandfather.

Thor is my closest line to him.

Thor is my closest line to him.

Hi Jillian, he is my 27th great grandfather! Greetings!

Jillian E. Shepard is your 30th cousin once removed.

Rollo is my wife's 27th great-grandfather (through the du Puy line).

Hi, he is my 29th Great Grandfather.

He is my 32nd Great Grandfather.

Regards,

He is my 25th grandfather!

Gange-Hrólfr 'Rollo' of Normandy is your 28th great grandfather on my maternal side.

Gange-Hrólfr 'Rollo' of Normandy is my 30th great grandfather

Rollo is my 29th! Great Grandfather :-)

Well, whether it is common or not to have Rollo as an ancestor, I'm quite pleased and yes, it will make watching Vikings (which I'm addicted to btw) even more fun!

Viking isn't even close to being correct to any of the sagas or historical facts, so please use the series as entertainment only, and not as being historically correct. Rollo (who is a historical person) is not the brother of Ragnar Lodbrok (who is not a historical person, but probably a conglomerate of several different persons using similar names.)

Gange-Rolv lived a long time after the saga figure Ragnar Lodbrok, and just to let you know, there are no possibility to prove any relationship back to Ragnar.

Jillian E. Shepard my 28th g-granfather, half a dozen times over...and to ragnar (33rd), and bjorn ironside (32nd) too...you will find the further back you go the more you are your own cousin, and pretty much all of europe are our distant cousins as well.
